Nicolas Astorga is a Chilean performer and visual artist that has developed most of his career doing solo and collective shows around Chile, Mexico, Peru and Colombia. His research goes from performative experiences to music and sculpture on cultural and autobiographical problematics. After art school he was part of the SOMA Mexico studies programme where he developed great part of his work and currently he lives and works in Leipzig, Germany.
His new musical project, Astorga, focuses on the aesthetic and sexual dimension of the working masculine body put into action channeling the author's energy and vocal capacity.
Fuerza is Astorga’s new first EP under this alias. This release looks forward to dialogue with techno, electro, EBM, Post-Punk and Dark wave influences, meanwhile its main edge are the vocals, which are a reinterpretation of the spoken word but taken to the limit, shouting and keeping them clean from vocal effects that tend to stay in a common safe place. One of its strongest points is the performative potential, which was also a determinant part of the producing and recording process. It proposes a code led by men to men relationships, physical activity and corporality, establishing an ambiguous limit in between an homoerotic and hyper masculine experience.
This EP is fully loaded with energetic beats that tend to overpass the 130 bpm. By using metallic and agressive sounds, it shakes and invites the audience to reclaim their primitive and lustful impulses.

All tracks composed and produced by Matías Contreras.
One More Fluorescent Rush is one of my favorite tracks of the decade; it is beautiful yet dynamic, laced with sparkling synths and melodies that will make sure it is being played at high volumes for years to come. The music video is a masterpiece as well, no surprise since Whities always comes correct with the visuals. Avalon Emerson's remix of Four Tet's Teenage Birdsong is also a must buy, reminding us that her signature sound remains unique and unlike anything else out there. Edward
